Citizen Voices · Panel Discussion and Breakout Series

Citizen Voices is a one-day event scheduled for October 15th, featuring a panel discussion and series of breakout sessions covering ethics, techniques and best practices of non-fiction filmmaking.  A partnership with the New Orleans Film Festival and hosted by the Louisiana Humanities Center, this educational event is suited for everyone from seasoned documentary filmmakers to community storytellers and film novices.

Topics will include Ethics of Representation, Legal issues and Fair Use, Constructing and Finding Your Story,  Funding and Outreach and more.  Contributors will include award winning documentary filmmakers, featured guests of the New Orleans Film Festival and seasoned journalists who will share with you the best practices and ethical questions that can and will come up when shooting and editing a non-fiction project. Scenes from a variety of documentaries will be referenced to illustrate the topics of discussion.

This event is free and open to the public and will take place at the Louisiana Humanities Center at 1:30 PM.  Please see below for a detailed schedule of the panel and breakout sessions.
