Save the Date for NOVAC’s 40th Anniversary Decades Bash
NOVAC, is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this year by hosting ourDecades Bash fundraiser, with music, food, drink and film from 4 decades of serving the community. NOVAC is inviting you to join us Friday, September 21, from 7 – 10 pm at Republic NOLA for an evening to remember!
As the oldest media arts nonprofit in the South, NOVAC has incubated more local filmmakers than any other arts organization in the region. Since 1972, NOVAC has offered training, resources and opportunities to filmmakers in the Gulf South so that their visions can be made reality, cultures can be documented, and the rich filmmaking tradition of our region can be preserved.
The evening will begin with a patron party at 7pm, and will open doors at 7:30 to guests with tickets for a DJ-Decades battle featuring music from the 70s, 80s, 90s and the new millennium to recognize NOVAC’s 40 years of serving the local arts community. Food will be provided, and Republic will be hosting drink specials all evening.
Guests will also be able to submit votes for their favorite short film in the 40-second film festival, and special-edition NOVAC/Hollywood on the Bayou t-shirts and posters will be for sale, depicting historic movies filmed in Louisiana.
“The New Orleans Video Access Center has for years supported the local filmmaking community, and we are in a unique position now of being a historic organization that is on the cutting edge of a booming industry,” says NOVAC Executive Director Darcy McKinnon. “We are throwing a party that reflects both our long-standing cultural heritage and our innovative creative streak, to raise money that will ensure we can continue providing New Orleans with the training, resources, events, talent and opportunity that will ensure a thriving film arts community.”

General Tickets $20 - Kick off NOVAC’s 40th year by dancing the night away from 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm to jams from the 70′s to today and picking your fav films from the 40 second film fest.
