NOVAC Introduces New Pop-Up Class Series

With tight schedules and even tighter budgets often prohibiting the indie filmmaker from getting the additional training he or she may need to refine their skills, NOVAC has developed its all new Pop-Up Class Series. Beginning in June, NOVAC will offer short intensive workshops that fall outside of the regularly scheduled programming and can “pop up” any time.

The first in this series is the June 4th 7D Intensive instructed by Cottage Films‘ Jason Ferris.  With critically acclaimed indies like Tiny Furniture (2010 SXSW Best Film) and Like Crazy (2011 Sundance Jury Winner) picking off awards on the festival circuit and Oscar nominated features like Black Swan taking advantage of the camera’s size and effectiveness, the Canon EOS 7D Digital SLR camera and other DSLR models like the 5D are causing a budding revolution in the indie filmmaking world.

Eager to keep ahead of the curve NOVAC has designed a course that in only one day of training will provide the indie filmmaker with the ins and outs of operating and achieving gorgeous video on the 7D. The course will cover setting up the camera menu, expanded ISO, lighting for the 7D, camera accessories, lenses and filters, recording sound, post production workflow and more.  Only $75 for NOVAC members and $125 for everyone else, this Saturday course will get the participating students in and out, with the knowledge they need and for a price they can afford.  For more information or to register visit the 7D Pop-Up Class page.

Always the pleaser, NOVAC wants to hear from you. Is there a quick class that you would love to take or even teach?  If there is a topic that you would like to see us cover in a Pop-Up class or if you are an expert in some aspect of filmmaking that you would like to share with the community, email NOVAC’s Filmmaker Program Coordinator at ashley@novacvideo.org.
