Creative Careers

in digital media

NOVAC has partnered with the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) to offer high school credit courses in digital media through the Supplemental Course Academy (SCA). Aligned with the TOPs University diploma and the Digital Media and Entertainment Technology pathway on the TOPs Tech Diploma, our courses provide the technical and creative skills for entry into creative digital media careers through workplace scenarios and real design and video work in the community.

AFTER SCHOOL COURSES

We work with local public high schools to serve digital media learning pathways to their students; schools commit a minimum number of students, and we train them in-person or virtually. Our courses are JumpStart Pathway and TOPS art aligned and can be customized to provide schools with a variety of credit and schedule options. Our curriculum provides students with the skills (both soft and software) needed for the job in the industry. We not only prepare students to earn a basic industry-based credential in one of the Adobe software programs listed below, but also use project-based learning and real world design projects to foster problem-solving, collaborative working, original thinking and cultural awareness, and project management skills.

COURSE OFFERINGS

  • Digital Photography w/ Adobe Photoshop
  • Video Editing + Animation w/ Premiere Pro

Students who take both classes have the opportunity to earn an advanced certification, and are more likely to master more advanced software in the future.
